La Habra and Whittier Christian received the No. 2 and No. 4 seeds, respectively, in Division I for this week’s CIF Southern California Regional in softball.

The week-long tournament also features Irvine as the No. 3 seed in Division IV.

La Habra (23-8), a semifinalist in CIF-SS Division 1, plays host to Bonita (22-9) in the first round Tuesday.

Whittier Christian (24-8-1), the CIF-SS Division 2 champion, plays host to Point Loma (23-9) on Tuesday.

The winner plays at top-seeded and defending champion Mater Dei Catholic of Chula Vista in the semifinals Thursday. Mater Dei Catholic has a bye in the first round.

Irvine (16-16), the CIF-SS Division 6 champion, plays host to Avenal of the Central Section (17-7) in the first round Tuesday.

Several Orange County teams that qualified for the regional opted out of playing, citing the rigors of the season and the upcoming schedule for travel softball.
