Orange County sheriff’s deputies were called to the area of Cerritos Avenue and Magnolia Street just after 9 p.m. and arrived to find the women injured, Sgt. Gerard McCann said.

They were both taken to a hospital but died.

The driver stayed and cooperated with investigators, and driving under the influence was not believed to be a factor in the crash, McCann said.
