A driver fleeing an attempted stop by Anaheim police crashed his car into a pole in a commuter parking lot in Fullerton and died, authorities said.

Police, suspecting illegal drug activity, tried to stop a silver 1996 Toyota Corolla near Euclid Street and Crescent Avenue just before 1 a.m. on Friday, June 5, but the driver did not yield and a pursuit started, according to Anaheim and Fullerton police.
The driver led authorities into Fullerton, where he entered an Orange County Transportation Authority Park-and-Ride commuter lot at 3000 W. Orangethorpe Avenue and crashed into a concrete pole, police said.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
A passenger in the car was injured, but the injuries were not life-threatening, Anaheim police said. The driver and passenger were not publicly identified.
