Ducks right wing Beckett Sennecke on Tuesday became the fourth rookie in franchise history to be named as a finalist for the Calder Trophy, joining Paul Kariya, Bobby Ryan and Trevor Zegras. Sennecke shared the NHL’s rookie lead with 23 goals during the regular season.

Sennecke joined right wing Ivan Demidov of the Montreal Canadiens and defenseman Matthew Schaefer of the New York Islanders as finalists for the trophy presented to “the player selected as the most proficient in his first year of competition.”
Sennecke was the third overall pick in the 2024 draft.
The finalists were selected in a vote at the end of the regular season by members of the Professional Hockey Writers Association.

Schaefer also scored 23 goals this past regular season.
Sennecke’s 23 goals tied Zegras for the third-most by a Ducks rookie. Zegras holds the franchise records for the most assists (37) and points (61) by a rookie (set in the 2021-22 season). Zegras finished second in the voting, Kariya was third in 1994-95 and Ryan was second in 2008-09.

The Ducks traded Zegras to the Philadelphia Flyers last June 23.
