Gutierrez went 47-0 this season. So, she has had plenty of good days.
There is the occasional bad day, which is never her fault.
“If there is a day that we don’t have practice, she gets upset,” said Marina wrestling coach Chris Rasmussen. “She’s relentless, always wanting to improve. Even with all of her success, she’s still that kind of a kid.”
Gutierrez went into the CIF State meet in Bakersfield as the top-seeded wrestler at 115 pounds. She pinned all five of her opponents at the state meet, including third-seeded Skye Schneider of Elk Grove at 5:38 in the final round. That gave her 46 victories by fall this season.
She continues to impress Rasmussen with her desire to improve daily.
“I’ve never met a kid with that drive that Aubree has,” Rasmussen said.
Once her high school season ended, Gutierrez began her international wrestling season. She won gold medals at the 2026 U17 Pan American Championships in freestyle wrestling and beach wrestling.
Rasmussen said Gutierrez was focused only on her next match and her next opponent.
“She went undefeated this year and doesn’t remember who she wrestled,” Rasmussen said. “Aubree’s always ready to move on to the next one. She’s great at that.”
Gutierrez won CIF-SS and CIF State titles in the 110-pound class as a freshman.
She carries a 4.2 grade-point average and is active in Marina’s Jr. ROTC program. Gutierrez also is active in Brazilian Jiujitsu.
