A wildfire that broke out after a semi-truck fire sparked nearby brush along the 5 freeway in Castaic prompted evacuation warnings Monday, July 6.

By about 6 p.m., forward progress was stopped on the Martin fire which had grown to roughly 25 acres after it was reported just after 4 p.m. on the 5 freeway just north of Templin Highway, according to Watch Duty, a nonprofit that tracks fires across the country. The fire was 46 percent contained as of Monday evening.

An evacuation warning was issued for the area of Paradise Ranch, between Templin Highway and the Pyramid Lake area, according to Los Angeles County fire officials.

No injuries had been reported. Fire officials didn’t immediately know how many structures were threatened in the area.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
