Set on a third-acre coastal bluff, the contemporary Craftsman-style residence spans 6,906 square feet with three bedrooms, four bathrooms and expansive entertaining spaces. It is one of 14 homes within the Montage Laguna Beach luxury resort, offering access to its services and amenities.

Public records show Mellor and his wife, Suzanne, purchased the home for $17.7 million in July 2009.

The couple hired architect Chris Light to reimagine the existing four-bedroom, five-bathroom house in 2012. According to city documents, the renovation included a living area addition, skylights and a spa, among other improvements.

Multiple glass doors bring the outdoors into the entry-level open-concept layout, which stretches from the front entry and stair landing through the living and dining rooms.

The kitchen features custom-honed marble counters, high-end fixtures and appliances, a walk-in pantry and two center islands with counter seating.

On the opposite wing, the primary suite features an ocean-view bedroom with a stone fireplace, sitting area and direct access to the backyard. A soaking tub, steam shower and walk-in closets round out the suite.

The entry level also includes an art studio that offers flexibility for creative pursuits, wellness activities or work-from-home needs.

Off the foyer, a gently curving staircase descends alongside a massive grid-style window that overlooks the courtyard. The lower level is also accessible by elevator and features a wood-paneled office, a media room, a billiards room with a wet bar and a 690-bottle climate-controlled wine cellar with a tasting area and a fireplace.

Walnut flooring, Venetian plaster walls and stone and tile accents define the home’s interior, while reclaimed 600-year-old timber beams from France span the vaulted ceilings.

The property overlooks the ocean and Catalina Island. Outdoor amenities include an infinity-edge spa and an ocean-view lanai with a fireplace, outdoor shower and heaters.

Shauna Covington and Leita Covington of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties hold the listing.

Mellor helped oversee the restructuring of General Dynamics alongside then-CEO William Anders, who later passed the reins to Mellor. After retiring from corporate life in 1996, Mellor and his wife settled in Laguna Beach, where he became active in the community, serving on the boards of the Laguna Playhouse and the Laguna College of Art and Design. He died in February 2025 at 94, and his wife died in November at 91.
