This week, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation announced additional scholarship recipients following its early June release of more than 2,500 scholarship winners across the country.
The latest announcement makes 22 Orange County students among this year’s class of recipients of the college-sponsored scholarships.
The scholarships range from $500 to $2,000 per year and can be renewed for up to four years of undergraduate study.
To qualify, students must take the 2024 PSAT/NMSQT as juniors and advance through the semifinalist and finalist categories of the National Merit program.
In all, the National Merit program expects nearly $24 million in scholarships for undergraduate study to be awarded to about 6,500 high school graduates this year, officials of the program said.
