Olivia Rodrigo’s sold-out Daisy Chain Fields Music Festival is just around the corner and Irvine officials are asking Great Park area residents to stay tuned for updates about traffic, noise and how to nab a neighborhood dash pass.

The one-day festival will go live Aug. 29 when Rodrigo will perform alongside a female-led lineup including Chappell Roan, Doechii, Garbage, Mitski, Stevie Nicks and more. The day-long festival opens at 10:30 a.m.
The event’s proceeds will go toward supporting nonprofit organizations that focus on advancing and advocating for women and girls, event organizers have said.
“These sorts of events are what the neighborhood are excited to see and would like to see,” said Councilmember William Go, who chairs Irvine’s Great Park board, which got an update Tuesday, July 28, on plans for the festival.
The festival, which sold out within 30 minutes during its June 24 presale, is expected to draw 45,000 people to the Great Park, where it will set up two stages, a philanthropy village, lounge areas and more.
So, before the concert crowds hit, Irvine city officials are delivering traffic tips for Great Park residents and hints as to what to expect in the coming weeks.
What can residents expect?
Sound checks, which will be happening Aug 27 through the morning of Aug. 29.
Area residents will probably also notice “setup activity, including temporary structures, staffing fencing, equipment, deliveries and increased staff presence through portions of Great Park,” according to a recent city notice about the festival.
Festival setup will begin Aug. 23.
The festival will use the existing Great Park Live venue as one of its stages. But there’s much work to be done, including raising a second, Dandelion Stage, that will be built atop four soccer fields (numbers 13-17), and will feature general admission and VIP lounges, as well as bungalows.
Hangar 244 will be transformed into a “philanthropy village,” and the Palm Court Arts Complex’s indoor and outdoor spaces will showcase arts exhibits curated for the festival.
“The exhibition will be in place after the festival and viewable through November,” said Cory Hilderbrand, the city’s Community and Library Services manager.
“Food and beverage, as well as restaurants, will be located throughout the venue with key hubs at Great Park Live, the promenade, and the Dandelion Stage area,” Hilderbrand said.
The main entrance will be located on soccer fields just north of Marine Way (numbers 5 and 6).

Parking lots will open at 8:30 a.m. the day of the event, and only vehicles displaying paid parking passes will be allowed to enter their designated lot.
A shuttle service will be available from UC Irvine, the Honda Center and from the Irvine Train Station, Hilderbrand said.
“All three locations will drop off and pick up in Lot 6,” he said.
Neighborhood Dash Pass
Residents, of course, should also expect traffic.
But there’s a Dash Pass program, aided by several street and lane closures, that hopes to speed up the commute to and from home for area residents, officials said.
The passes, either a review mirror hanging tag or a placard on the dashboard, “help traffic officers quickly identify local vehicles and allow them to do designated checks,” city of Irvine spokesperson Melissa Haley said.
“The Dash Pass is not a parking permit, and it does not protect drivers from any posted parking restrictions,” she added. “It simply provides access through traffic barricades leading into affected neighborhoods with the goal of balancing the large-scale effect with the daily lives of our neighborhood residents.”
City officials are encouraging residents to secure a pass ahead of time by providing proof of residency — either a valid ID, a current utility bill or a current lease agreement — and registering through the neighborhood portal at daisychainfields.com.
Residents can pick up their passes from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Aug. 24 to 27 at a box office situated at Great Park Lot 0.
“For residents who are unable to pick up their pass in advance, they can obtain one at a neighborhood checkpoint on the day of the festival,” Haley said.
