A 22-year-old Lake Forest man was arrested on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated following a two-vehicle crash that killed a man in his 70s on Thursday night, authorities said.

Deputies responded around 9:40 p.m. on Aug. 6 to the intersection of El Toro Road and Via Ridgeline Road in Lake Forest following reports of a collision involving two vehicles, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department said.

Orange County Fire Authority personnel arrived and found a man in his 70s who was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the department.

The driver of the other vehicle, identified as Joel Obed MendezCamargo, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, authorities said. He was then booked into the Orange County Jail on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.

The identity of the man who was killed was withheld pending notification of his family.
