San Juan Hills’ football season got off to a strong start Friday with a 67-0 win over Kaneohe Castle on the Hawaiian island of Oahu.

Stallions junior running back Nikos Ioja rushed for 93 yards and a touchdown on nine carries.
Junior Preston Getz and senior Eiler King shared time at quarterback. Getz completed his four passes, three of them for touchdowns. King was 7 for 10 for 69 yards and two touchdowns.
San Juan Hills senior receiver Luke Frith had five receptions for 70 yards and two touchdowns. Stallions senior Cooper Chila caught two touchdown passes.
The next game for San Juan Hills, No. 11 in the Orange County preseason Top 25, is Aug. 28 at Chaparral of Temecula.
Orange County’s No. 7-ranked team, San Clemente, also got a season-opening win in Hawaii last week.
Edison 41, Iolani 27: Senior quarterback Sam Thomson completed 17 of 24 passes for 164 yards and three touchdowns Saturday in Edison’s season-opener in Honolulu.
The Chargers, No. 14 in the county Top 25, took control early. Thomson threw two touchdown passes to Dominic Harrison in the first quarter. Edison had a 27-0 lead in the second quarter.
The game’s starting time was moved to two hours in an effort to finish before the brunt of Hurricane Lala brought stormy conditions to the area.

Edison’s next game is Aug. 28 against Phoenix’s Pinnacle at Huntington Beach High.
Capistrano Valley 55, Damien 6: Offense, defense and special teams all contributed to the No. 16 Cougars’ win in Honolulu on Saturday.
Colin Hooper scored on an interception, one of four Capistrano Valley interceptions. Jolan Gonzalez blocked a punt and recovered it in the end zone for a touchdown. Talon Spencer rushed for two touchdowns and Zadyn Hall led the Cougars’ running game that totaled 215 yards.
Villa Park 55, Farrington 6: The Spartans kicked off their season with a one-sided win on the island of Oahu.
Sophomore quarterback Jacob Titchenal completed 9 of 11 passes for 147 yards and three touchdowns.
Junior receiver Ethan Hedrick had two touchdown receptions.
No. 18 Villa Park’s next game is Aug. 27 against Western at El Modena High.
Newport Harbor 41, Nanakuli 0: Senior quarterback Jordan Spigarelli threw for 253 yards and four touchdowns in the Sailors’ season-opening win on the island of Oahu.
Spigarelli completed 13 of his 19 passes. Senior receiver Shane McKibben had seven receptions for 143 yards and two touchdowns. Sophomore safety Ben Stremick had nine tackles.
