One person was killed after a tour bus caught fire early Friday morning, Aug. 21 on the eastbound 60 Freeway in Hacienda Heights, the Los Angeles County Fire Department said.

The fire erupted just after 5:30 a.m. and may have started in the engine compartment, according to the Fire Department.

A second person was transported to a hospital for smoke inhalation, authorities said.

Information regarding how many people were on the bus when the blaze broke out was not immediately available.

Multiple lanes of the 60 Freeway were closed Friday morning following the fire.

Footage from ABC7 shows the large, white passenger bus on the freeway with the back half of the bus heavily burned.
