Fans flock to Olivia Rodrigo’s Daisy Chain Fields Festival in Irvine

Daisy Chain Fields officially bloomed Saturday morning at Great Park in Irvine, welcoming thousands of fans for a day honoring women in music, art and community.

Lillian Geraci and her mother, Amanda Geraci, turned Daisy Chain Fields into a mother-daughter birthday weekend. Amanda flew in from Oklahoma to visit Lillian, who has lived in Orange County for the past two years, and the two arrived dressed in pink and black for the occasion.

For them, the biggest draw was Stevie Nicks, whose music has become a tradition spanning generations of women in their family. Amanda shared that love for Nicks with her own mother and grandmother, and gets to experience it once again.

“Yeah, now I’m passing it down with my daughter, and we’re going to see it together,” Amanda said. “And who knows, she might do that with her child.”

The pairing also reflects the multigenerational appeal playing out across the grounds. While younger fans have turned out for many of today’s biggest names on the bill, Amanda was particularly excited for Garbage, Karen O and Die Spitz. She heads back to Oklahoma Sunday evening after the quick birthday trip, but said coming out for the festival was “so worth it.”

That feeling of women gathering across generations is hard to miss at Daisy Chain Fields. Women appear to make up the overwhelming majority of the crowd, filling Great Park in groups of friends, mothers and daughters, and fans who traveled from outside Southern California for the single-day event.

And for a first-year festival, the grounds feel remarkably well thought out. Much of Great Park is covered in grass, with mature trees providing natural shade alongside additional lounge areas, benches and air-conditioned spaces where attendees can take a break. Activations and art installations are spread throughout the grounds without making the festival feel overcrowded, leaving plenty of places to sit, gather or simply slow down between sets.

One of those spaces formed beneath a textile installation by artist and educator Kelsey Merritt Wagner, where colorful pieces stretched among the trees overhead. By midday, festivalgoers were lying in the grass beneath it, turning the installation into both art and a shaded gathering place. It’s a small example of how intentional the festival feels beyond just what is happening onstage.

Beyond the art, activations and gathering spaces, the music was already well underway across the festival’s two stages.

Musical performances started before noon with the dreamy indie pop of Quiet Light on the Marigold Stage, followed half an hour later by alt-pop singer Eli at the Dandelion Stage at the opposite end of the festival grounds.

As the early afternoon unfolded, larger crowds arrived for sets by Rachel Chinouriri and Devon Again, a last-minute replacement for Katseye, three of whom showed up at the Dandelion Stage to help introduce Devon.

By early afternoon, Daisy Chain Fields already felt less like a first-year festival and more like a space people instinctively knew how to settle into. Gathering under trees, moving between generations, and making a day centered on women feel genuinely communal.
