The biggest inclusion to the roster is Aaron Donald, returning from retirement, to join the Super Bowl favorites and star edge rusher Myles Garrett as a part of the Rams’ roster.
While coach Sean McVay is scheduled to talk later Sunday after practice in Woodland Hills, here’s how the Rams’ roster shapes up heading into their Week 1 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers in 11 days time in Melbourne, Australia:
Quarterbacks (3)Matthew Stafford, Stetson Bennett IV, Ty SimpsonStafford was always going to be leading the Rams’ offense. But the backup quarterback battle between Bennett, in his fourth season with the team, and the Simpson, the Rams’ first-rounder is still going. Undrafted rookie Matthew Caldwell was placed on the injured reserve.
Running backs (3)Kyren Williams, Blake Corum, Ronnie RiversCuts: Dean Connors, Jordan WatersWilliams and Corum will be the head of the Rams’ running backs room once again in 2026, with Rivers as the break-glass option should one of them become unavailable. Connors, who impressed in training camp and the preseason, could be a candidate for the practice squad.
Wide receivers (7)Puka Nacua, Davante Adams, Jordan Whittington, Xavier Smith, Konata Mumpfield, Tutu Atwell, CJ DanielsCuts: Brennan Presley, Tyler Scott, Alex BachmanNo surprises with this group, but Nacua still faces a potential suspension before the Rams’ Week 1 opener against the 49ers. The Rams traded to re-acquire Atwell last week.
Tight ends (5)Tyler Higbee, Colby Parkinson, Davis Allen, Terrance Ferguson, Max KlareThe Rams plan to play a lot of multiple tight end sets once again under McVay’s offense, with second-year undrafted tight end Mark Redman the odd man out, being sent to the Green Bay Packers for a 2028 seventh-round pick, a league source told the Southern California News Group on Sunday.
Offensive Line (9)Alaric Jackson, Steve Avila, Coleman Shelton, Kevin Dotson, Warren McClendon Jr., David Quessenberry, Beaux Limmer, Dylan McMahon, Bill MurrayCuts: Wyatt Bowles, Blake Hance, AJ Arcuri, Austin BlaskeOutside of a looming potential suspension for Jackson, the Rams return consistency across their offensive line, although a preseason injury to rookie Keagen Trost, a swing-tackle, leaves plenty of depth to be desired. Both Trost and Justin Dedich (hand) begin the season on the injury reserve.

Defensive line (6)Aaron Donald, Kobie Turner, Braden Fiske, Poona Ford, Tyler Davis, Ty HamiltonCuts: Tim Keenan III, Jackson Moi, Bill Norton
Donald is back. The Rams, however, parted ways with Keenan III, who they’d hope to return to the practice squad after he was their seventh-round selection in 2026.
Outside linebacker (5)Myles Garrett, Byron Young. Projected backups: Josaiah Stewart, Desjuan Johnson, Wesley BaileyCuts: Darryl Peterson III, Larrell MurchisonBailey, an undrafted edge rusher who dominated for the Rams during the preseason, makes the final cut. The Rams hope to add Murchison to the practice squad, if he clears waivers.
Inside linebacker (4)Omar Speights, Nate Landman, Shaun Dolac, Grant StuardCuts: Monty Rice, Elias NealAbout as sure as a position group that the Rams have; the quartet of inside linebackers should all see the field with consistency should they remain healthy.
Cornerback (4)Trent McDuffie, Jaylen Watson, Emmanuel Forbes, Josh WallaceCuts: Cam Lampkin, Nyzier FourqureanMcDuffie and Watson, two of the Rams’ big offseason additions, highlight this group. The Rams cut Lampkin, who played well in the preseason, and in their Thursday finale.
Safety (4)Quentin Lake, Kam Curl, Kam Kinchens, Jaylen McColloughCuts: Nick Andersen, Tanner Ingle, AZ HamiltonThe Rams are quite high on Kinchens entering the 2026 season, and could see a breakout performance from the safety during the 2026 season. Andersen, an undrafted free agent, didn’t make the cut, but showed promise and could be a sneaky practice squad addition for the season ahead.
Specialists (3)Harrison Mevis (kicker), Ethan Evans (punter), Joe Cardona (long snapper).Cuts: Jack Bouwmeester (punter)The Rams welcome back their same trio as they ended last season with after finding a comfortable spot with Mevis and Cardona in their respective roles.
