YORBA LINDA – Dana Hills football’s high-scoring start continued Thursday with a 66-7 win over Esperanza.

The Dolphins, No. 18 in the Orange County Top 25, are 3-0. Their previous wins were 56-10 over San Marcos of Santa Barbara and 62-7 over Tesoro.
Dana Hills scored touchdowns on all seven of their first-half possessions – six touchdowns and one field goal. They led at halftime, 45-7.
Junior quarterback Carter Anderson completed 10 of 15 passes for 198 yards and four touchdowns. Sophomore receiver Davis Howes caught two touchdown passes and had 128 receiving yards. Senior receiver Jack Norman had four catches for 92 yards and a touchdown.
Norman is 6-4 and 200 pounds. Junior receiver Mason Valles, who also had a touchdown catch, is 6-3, 190. Anderson has 13 touchdown passes for the three games.
“We’ve got some length on the outside,” said Dana Hills coach Tony Henney. “That opens up some things.”
Enzo Gallo rushed for 109 yards and two touchdowns on nine carries.
Dana Hills senior safety Stephen Reda had an interception and blocked a punt in the first half.

Esperanza is 2-1.
Gallo scored on a 48-yard to finish the Dolphins’ game-opening possession. Enzo Carpino kicked a 30-yard field goal for a 10-0 lead. Gallo’s 1-yard touchdown run toward the end of the quarter made it 17-0, and a 9-yard touchdown pass from Anderson to Valles increased the lead to 24-0.
Esperanza got its touchdown on Quin Martin’s 1-yard run in the second quarter. Anderson connected with Howes for a 63-yard touchdown play, Micah Bowen scored on a 2-yard run and Bowen scored on a 33-yard reception for the 45-7 halftime lead.
Backup quarterback Caden Marquis threw two touchdown passes in the second half.
The Dana Hills offensive line of Bodey Ferguson, Caspian Barzin, Cash Vise, Logan Day and Issaias Amaya opened gaps for Gallo and gave Anderson more than ample time.
“Our kids are playing with tremendous pride,” Henney said. “It’s been really fun.”
Dana Hills plays at home against Long Beach Wilson next Friday (Sept. 11). Wilson was 0-2 going into this week.
Esperanza plays Yorba Linda next Friday at Yorba Linda High. Yorba Linda is No. 10 in this week’s Orange County Top 25.
