The show-and-tell on Oct. 3 is open to residents and free to participate in. It may be a school yearbook, a program from an Anaheim sporting or cultural event or something else special to the city you would like to share.

First Presbyterian Pastor Kim Skilling set to retire
Pastor Kim Skilling will celebrate her final service at Anaheim First Presbyterian later this month.
Pastor Kim has been at First Presbyterian for more than 10 years and is retiring. She has been a strong part of the Anaheim community and was celebrated as an Anaheim Superhero by Anaheim Community Foundation in April.
Her last service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 27, and there will be a reception following it in the church courtyard at 310 W. Broadway.

The organizers of the two popular events are looking for volunteers. Each Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m. up until the events on Oct. 24, the folks will be busy creating new floats and sprucing up the existing floats. Join the fun and they do have a lot of fun!

On Sept. 26, the Anaheim Central Library is welcoming back Spinal Dread, a celebration of horror literature and culture.
The 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. event will feature indy writers, artists and creators as special speakers and vendors.

Shop and help support the library
The Friends of Anaheim Public Library Book Sale is coming on Sept. 18 at the Central Library.
There will be books for sale, and other items too, such as jewelry, curios, knick-knacks, puzzles and more. Proceeds from the book sale directly support Anaheim Public Library programs and services.

Muzeo explores Disney animation and history in Anaheim
The Muzeo Museum and Cultural Center is presenting a new exhibit from the Walt Disney Archives.
“Capturing Life, Creating Character,” about the art of live-action reference, will be on display in the Muzeo’s Main Gallery through Nov. 1.
This is a fascinating look at the pursuit of character animation through a collection of rarely seen photographs of live performers and their animated counterparts.
Another exhibit, “AnaheimLand,” is showing in the Carnegie South Gallery, also through Nov. 1. ” AnaheimLand ” draws on the deep, living connection between our city and the Disneyland Resort. Don’t miss it.

Anaheim Fire & Rescue to offer CERT training
Be prepared and be informed and make a difference. Anaheim Fire & Rescue is offering CERT training, which is free and open to anyone interested in learning about how they can be an effective responder for their family and their community in an emergency.
Training is provided by the Anaheim Fire & Rescue Department using a nationally recognized 20-hour curriculum approved by the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Participants will learn how to identify and anticipate hazards in the community, reduce fire hazards in the home and workplace, extinguish small fires, and more.

The Anaheim Craft & Vintage Fair is coming up on Sept. 19.
There will be more than 35 unique vendors for shoppers who are looking for a unique experience. These are crafters and artists who make what they sell.
There will also be great food for sale and a bake sale, too.
The fair will be hosted at the Annunciation Byzantine Catholic Church, 995 N. West St., from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Entrance is free.
