HUNTINGTON BEACH — Edison’s football wasn’t able to generate much offense in its nonleague game against Palos Verdes on Friday at Huntington Beach High School.

When the Chargers did have the ball, they managed only one trip inside the red zone.
The Sea Kings, meanwhile, led by senior quarterback Ryan Rakowski, were able to extend drives and came away with a 28-3 victory over the Chargers.
“They’re very good,” Edison coach Jeff Grady said of Palos Verdes. “They’re physical, they run the ball downhill and they’re tough to score on. They’re a well-rounded football team and they got after us tonight.”
The Chargers (1-3), who are ranked No. 15 in Orange County, started their three first-half drives from their 2, 20 and 22.
Edison punted on the first and third drives but drove 77 yards on the second drive and had a first-and-goal from the 7, the Chargers’ best scoring opportunity of the game by far.
But after a 1-yard gain and two incompletions, the Chargers settled for a 24-yard field goal from Crue Bradshaw for their only score of the game.
Edison’s best drive in the second half was to the Palos Verdes 27 late in the fourth quarter, but that drive ended with a turnover on first down.
“We’ve got to finish drives,” Grady said. “We’re not going to win too many games scoring three points.”

Travis Tomaro’s 13-yard touchdown run gave the undefeated Sea Kings (4-0) a 7-0 first-quarter lead, and a 37-yard touchdown pass from Ryan Rakowski in the second quarter made the score 14-3.
The Sea Kings were close to adding to that lead but fumbled the ball away at the Edison 20 with three seconds left in the half.
Still trailing by only 10 at the half, Edison received the second-half kickoff but made only one first down and punted from its 42.
The Chargers went three-and-out on their next drive before Palos Verdes made the score 21-3 on a 29-yard touchdown pass from Rakowski to Aaden Brady.
Palos Verdes put the contest out of reach on Tomaro’s 12-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.
The Chargers and Sea Kings split their two games last season.
Edison defeated Palos Verdes 21-20 in a nonleague regular-season game, but the Sea Kings defeated the Chargers 23-10 in a CIF-SS Division 3 semifinal playoff game.
“They’re going to keep working hard,” Palos Verdes coach Guy Gardner said of the Chargers. “Coach Grady has a great staff and a great program.”
