Disneyland visitors will soon have to navigate temporary walkways lined by construction walls to get into and out of the Anaheim theme parks as work shifts into high gear on a new pedestrian bridge stretching over Harbor Boulevard.

Disneyland plans to relocate the Toy Story parking lot shuttle bus drop-off/pick-up area and eastern security checkpoint as part of the esplanade expansion project and construction of a new Avatar themed land.
“Construction walls may result in temporary walkway adjustments to and from the theme park main entrances,” according to the Disneyland Construction Updates website.

The pedestrian bridge will connect the Disneyland resort esplanade with a new eastside parking structure, transportation hub and security screening area on an employee parking lot as a crucial first step in the $1.9 billion DisneylandForward expansion plan.
The drop-off/pick-up area for the Toy Story parking lot shuttle buses will be relocated to a new temporary location slightly to the north and closer to Harbor Boulevard.
Construction will begin in the next few weeks on the new shuttle bus drop-off/pick-up area, according to Nexstar theme park reporter Scott Gustin.
The existing Toy Story parking lot shuttle bus drop-off/pick-up area will be demolished to make room for the new pedestrian bridge.

Disneyland’s existing eastern security checkpoint will be temporarily relocated to the former location of the recently demolished east esplanade ticket booths.
A permanent security checkpoint is expected to be located underneath the new pedestrian bridge once Disneyland completes construction, according to concept art.
Disneyland concept art shows the existing Harbor Boulevard bus drop off/pick up area and security checkpoint replaced by a tree-lined esplanade and swooping S-shaped pedestrian bridge.

The concept art is meant to capture the essence of the project and is not intended to depict final details and design of the bridge.
Work is underway on a new 6,000-space eastside parking structure and transportation hub that will push the existing Disneyland bus drop off/pick up area along Harbor Boulevard to a former employee parking lot that backs up to the I-5 Freeway.
Disneyland has already demolished the eastern ticket booths on the esplanade in preparation for the construction of the temporary security checkpoint.
The new Avatar land will take over Hollywood Land in Disney California Adventure and the existing shuttle bus drop off/pick up area.
The new land based on the “The Way of Water” and other films in the Avatar franchise has been pushed back on the Disneyland project timeline behind the Avengers Campus expansion, Coco boat ride and Tomorrowland makeover.
Disneyland has not yet announced an estimated completion date for the pedestrian bridge and esplanade expansion projects.
Work is expected to be completed on the bridge and esplanade in time for the opening of the Avengers Campus expansion and the Los Angeles Summer Olympics in 2028.
Until then, Disneyland visitors may want to avoid the Toy Story parking lot in favor of the Mickey & Friends and Pixar Pals parking structures on the west side of the theme park resort.

Visitors staying in off-property hotels along Harbor Boulevard will need to exercise patience and allow for additional time to navigate the temporary walkways leading to and from the Disney theme parks.
