Los Alamitos has hired Randy Wright to coach boys water polo and Darin Blizzard to coach girls water polo, the Sunset League school announced.

A graduate of Los Alamitos, Wright served as an assistant last season for coach Robert Grayeli as the Griffins’ boys team reached the CIF-SS Division 2 semifinals.

Wright has coached at Millikan, Visalia, College of San Mateo and Northwood. He played at UCLA and is the brother of Bruins coach and Olympian Adam Wright.

Blizzard also served as a boys and girls assistant for Grayeli last season. He is a former assistant at Long Beach State, where he played. He played high school at Wilson of Hacienda Heights.

“I got a good coaching staff,” Grayeli said during the season of Blizzard and Wright.

Los Alamitos girls lost in the first round of the Division 1 playoffs this past season.

In April, Los Alamitos confirmed that Grayeli is no longer the boys and girls water polo coach after two seasons.
