The Orange County boys water polo rankings as of Thursday, Oct. 8:

1. JSerra 13-2 (2): The Lions regain the top spot after finishing second to Cathedral Catholic in the Elite 8 tournament last weekend. JSerra edged top-seeded Newport Harbor 10-9 in the semifinals to reach its first tournament final since 2024. On Wednesday, the Lions defeated Orange Lutheran 12-7 to improve to 3-0 in the Trinity League.

2. Newport Harbor 12-3 (1): Caruso Polenzani scored five goals and Lian Kim made 10 saves as the Sailors defeated host Corona del Mar 14-8 on Wednesday to clinch at least a share of the Sunset League title. Newport Harbor has won 22 consecutive matches against Corona del Mar dating back to 2016. The Sailors recovered from a 5-0 deficit against JSerra to tie the score in the fourth period.

3. Corona del Mar 13-9 (5): William Weir had four goals, an assist and two steals in a 14-8 loss against Newport Harbor on Wednesday. Corona del Mar is the top seed for the Memorial Cup this weekend at Bellarmine Prep.

4. Laguna Beach 15-6 (4): Finn Leverty scored five goals in a 17-13 win against Los Alamitos on Oct. 2. Laguna Beach is 3-0 in the Pacific Coast League.

5. Santa Margarita 13-7 (3): The Eagles play host to JSerra on Oct. 14 in a Trinity League showdown.

6. Huntington Beach 12-10 (7): The Oilers play at The Bishop’s of La Jolla on Saturday.

7. Beckman 11-7 (8): The Patriots defeated San Clemente 21-7 last week to take the lead in the South Coast League race.

8. San Clemente 9-10 (6): The Tritons opened the second round of the South Coast League by defeating Aliso Niguel 16-6 on Tuesday.

9. Mater Dei 7-13 (9): The Monarchs beat host Servite 12-9 on Wednesday to improve to 1-2 in the Trinity League. Mater Dei sank Sage Hill 10-8 last week. The Monarchs play host to Buena and coach Tom Davis (La Habra/UC Irvine) on Thursday.

10. Foothill 11-7 (10): The Knights are seeded 12th for the Memorial Cup this weekend. They open against against De La Salle on Friday at Bellarmine.
