Trader Joe’s could be moving to bigger digs in Laguna Niguel. Trader Joe’s this week is opening one store and closing another in the same shopping center in Laguna Niguel, the latest in a series of expansion moves by the Monrovia-based grocery chain.

The company took advantage of another store’s demise when Bed, Bath & Beyond closed at Ocean Ranch Village. Trader Joe’s saw an opportunity to expand, sharing that larger building with Ulta Beauty.
Trader Joe’s Store 103 opens at 8 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 22.
“The new store will have the same amazing Crew Members and products with a newly designed layout and bigger space,” a company representative confirmed on Monday, Oct. 19.
New address: 32391 Golden Lantern; old address: 32351 Golden Lantern.
This week, Trader Joe’s is juggling another grand opening on the same day on the opposite side of Orange County. The company is opening the doors on its first store in Anaheim Hills. Store No. 295 replaced a shuttered Big Lots store. The store opens at 9 a.m. Thursday at 6336 E. Santa Ana Canyon Road.

The company has been expanding or improving stores across Orange County. A second Trader Joe’s opened late last year in Costa Mesa, taking over part of a former 99 Cents Only Store. Another store in Orange expanded into a shuttered CVS next store, debuting the larger format just before Thanksgiving last year.
Also new to south county in the grocery category: Fresh Choice Marketplace is open in Lake Forest, replacing a shuttered 99 Cents Only store at 22631 Lake Forest Drive. The grocery store at Lake Forest Town Center offers an abundance of food “from all over the world” including halal meats, breads, produce and more. The grocer also has a store in Anaheim Hills at 440 South Anaheim Hills Road.
