After a sold-out debut last fall, the Spring Vintage Wine Walk returns on Saturday, May 16, bringing more than a dozen restaurants, bars and gathering spots for an afternoon of wine pours, bites and strolls through one of Orange County’s oldest neighborhoods.
Participating eateries stretch across downtown San Juan Capistrano and River Street Marketplace, including Ysidora, Trevor’s at the Tracks, El Adobe, Rancho Capistrano Winery and the Tea House on Los Rios.
Other spots include Hennessey’s Tavern, iconic dive Swallows Inn, Sundried Tomato American Bistro, Selma’s Chicago Pizzeria, Five Vines Wine Bar (a favorite of Gina Kirschenheiter of “Real Housewives of Orange County”), Blanca’s Latin Kitchen and Bar and Capo Leisure House, where live music will close out the afternoon.

Guests will receive a souvenir glass, a map and tasting tickets. The walk will be a self-guided tour through the town, allowing you to pick and choose where to go. “It’s a fantastic way for residents and visitors to celebrate our vibrant downtown and support or even discover local businesses,” said Chamber Director Benjamin Medina, in a written release.

The event comes as San Juan Capistrano’s food scene continues to change, especially around River Street Marketplace, which has undergone some changes, including the recent shuttering of two anchor restaurants, Vaquera and The Market by the Meat Cellar.
Spring Vintage Wine Walk happens 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. Saturday with check-in beginning at 1 p.m. at the Inn at the Mission at 26907 Old Mission Roadd.
Tickets run $50 per person, which includes wine and food tastings; tickets for the food-only experience, ideal for teetotalers and the under-21 set, cost $20.
