Evacuation orders were issued for some residents in Chino Hills as a vegetation fire burned 20 acres Wednesday, May 13.

The evacuations were ordered for Mill Stream Drive, Falling Star Lane, Valley View Lane and Sweet Grass Lane, according to the Chino Valley Fire District. An evacuation center was set up at the Chino Hills Community Center at 14250 Peyton Dr.

Officials with Cal Fire San Bernardino County couldn’t immediately specify the number of structures threatened after the Grand fire broke out just after 7 p.m. at Grand Avenue and Pleasant Hill Drive.

As of about 8 p.m., fire officials said no injuries were reported and no wide-scale evacuations were announced. The fire had the possibility of burning 200 acres, Cal Fire San Bernardino County said.

Fire officials also announced road closures at Chino Hills Parkway and Falling Star and Chino Hills Parkway and Country Walk.
