Tustin police were called to Yorba and 17th streets on a report of shots heard just after 6:10 p.m. and found the 42-year-old woman lying along the east curb north of 17th, Lt. Matt Nunley said.

The woman died at the scene, he said.

Witnesses told police they saw a man wearing all black clothing who fled in a car, Nunley said.

“The Police Department is maintaining a heavy presence in the area; however, investigators believe this is an isolated incident and there is no danger to the general public,” Nunley said.

Video from OC Hawk, a freelance news organization that sometimes works with the Southern California News Group, shows a partition set up behind a white SUV parallel parked along Yorba, and police officers searching the street for evidence.

It is unclear if the SUV played into the apparent homicide.

The woman’s identity was withheld by police pending notification of her relatives.
