Sage Hill has hired interim girls basketball coach Jethro Julian as its permanent coach and program director, athletic director Megan Cid confirmed Friday.

As a sport director, Julian will oversee the entire Sage Hill girls basketball program. The school is opening a middle school in the fall, which will extend Julian’s coverage area to grades 7-12, Cid said.

Julian will also teach physical education at Sage Hill and fulfill other roles at the school, Cid added.

This past season, Sage Hill (28-6) ascended to No. 1 in Orange County and reached the Open Division final in the CIF Southern California Regional. The Lightning lost to eventual state champion Ontario Christian and finished No. 8 in the nation.
