For only the second time ever, the Goodyear blimp landed on the beach.
The first time was over 70 years ago in Santa Monica. Today, it was south of the pier in Huntington Beach.

The airship landed on the sand to deliver Pacific Airshow CEO Kevin Elliott and his son Jett to an event marking the 10th anniversary of the show.
Elliott announced the performers for the Airshow and teased a yet-to-be announced performer that he would only say, “It’s big. … It’s gonna be the big boys.” He added that it will involve some technology that hasn’t been seen before.

Among the performers he announced was the return of the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds and Canadian Forces Snowbirds.

Elliott also said the Pacific Airshow had been selected for a special Freedom250 flyover by the Northrop F-5 Tiger II jet.
Other performers include: the U.S. Air Force Heritage Flight P-38, U.S. Navy F-35C, Royal Air Force Falcons Parachute Team, Mike Goulian in his Extra 330SC and Luke Czepiela in his Carbon Cub that he’ll land on the beach.

The airshow is scheduled for Oct. 2-4.
