SANTA ANA — Foothill pitcher Caden Lauridsen came on strong late in the season and has been especially dialed in during the postseason.

Lauridsen allowed one hit and two walks with five strikeouts over seven innings in the Knights’ 3-0 victory over Servite in the second round of the CIF-SS Division 2 playoffs Tuesday at Foothill High School.
The junior right-hander pitched a one-hitter in the Knights’ 2-1 victory over Vista Murietta in the first round of the playoffs.
The Broncos’ only run in that game was unearned, so Lauridsen has not allowed an earned run through 14 innings in the postseason.
The Knights (19-11) will play at Yucaipa in the quarterfinals Friday. The Thunderbirds defeated Royal, 17-2, in the second round.
“He just goes out there and throws strikes, doesn’t give up hits, doesn’t give up runs and generally doesn’t walk anybody either,” Foothill coach Chris Price said of Lauridsen. “He is just really, really locked in. It’s just been phenomenal.”
Against the Friars (16-14), Lauridsen walked two batters in the second inning and gave up his only hit – a leadoff double by Jaden Liu – in the fourth.
He retired the next eight hitters before hitting a batter to lead off the seventh.

“Honestly, it was just a blast,” Lauridsen said. “A super cool opportunity. I just appreciate my teammates for supporting me and making outs.”
Servite starter Wyatt Kargas also had a fine outing.
The right-hander pitched out of trouble in the first and second innings, retired the Knights in order in the third and retired two hitters in a row in the fourth.
Foothill then broke the scoreless tie in the fifth.
Jason Gugino led off the inning with a single and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt from Patrick Petrossi.
One out later, Brayden Bianchi came through with a two-out single that scored Gugino.
The Knights scored a run when Jaxson Foshay belted a first-pitch curve ball over the fence in left-center field to lead off the sixth.
“I knew that pitcher was going to throw me curve balls,” Foshay said. “He hung the first pitch. It was a little bit up and in and that was it.”
Evrett Rycroft doubled home Aiden Gogley later in the inning for Foothill’s third run.
