Anaheim police responded to the 2200 block of West Huntington Avenue, just west of Brookhurst Street, about 2:45 a.m. on a report of shots fired, Sgt. Matt Sutter said.
“We got numerous calls from the neighborhood,” Sutter said.
Someone inside the house also called police.
Officers arrived and learned the suspect, 38, had fired shots both inside and outside the house, Sutter said. He was taken into custody after a “minor use of force” and a gun was found in the front yard.
Officers went inside the house and then found the woman dead in the garage, Sutter said.
Five other people were inside the house and have been taken to the Anaheim Police Department’s headquarters to be interviewed, Sutter said.

Police were also interviewing the suspect.
Investigators believe the suspect lived at the house, but they weren’t sure whether the victim lived there, Sutter said, adding that it appeared to be a domestic-violence crime.
Officers checked surrounding homes for damage or injuries, but none was reported, Sutter said. Anyone who notices damage to their property from a bullet was asked to call Anaheim police.
The woman’s identity was withheld by police pending notification of her relatives.
How the other five people in the house were related to the suspect and victim, if at all, was not known. All five are adults, Sutter said.
