The vote center at Garden Grove Sports and Recreation Center, 13641 Deodara Dr., will open today from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., the Orange County registrar of voters said. Starting Wednesday, May 27, it will resume normal operating hours, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on June 2, Election Day, it will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., like the other vote centers scattered around the county.
Vote centers offer a range of services, aside from serving as a place to cast a ballot. There, voters can obtain a replacement ballot or one in their preferred language, register to vote and cast a provisional ballot or find other help for voting-related issues.
Three ballot drop boxes are still closed, though, the registrar said.
They are:
• The drive-up and walk-up drop box at the Chapman Sports Park at 11700 Knott St., in Garden Grove.
• The walk-up drop box at the Stanton Branch Library at 7850 Katella Ave., in Stanton.
• The walk-up drop box at the Korean Martyrs Catholic Center at 7655 Trask Ave., in Westminster.

Registrar of Voters Bob Page said last week his office was able to collect ballots from two of the drop boxes on Friday morning before the evacuation area was expanded. And normal security measures are in place to ensure the ballot drop boxes remain secure while they are shuttered, Page said.
Late Monday, officials allowed 65% of evacuees to return home, saying the threat of a catastrophic blast from the overheated container at GKN Aerospace had lessened. Still, an evacuation zone reaching from Orangewood Avenue to the north, Dale Street to the east, Knott Street to the west and Garden Grove Boulevard to the south remained.
Evacuated voters who do not have their ballot can request a replacement one at a vote center.
