ANAHEIM \u2014 Apparently it took a couple of days for Angels shortstop Zach Neto to feel the full impact of the collision he suffered on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Even though Neto played on Sunday and was in the lineup on Monday afternoon, he was scratched shortly before the game. He was not in the lineup again on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

He was hoping to be available to come off the bench on Tuesday, though.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn Sunday I felt fine, honestly,\u201d Neto said on Tuesday. \u201cI feel like even on the flight on the way back home, I felt great. I felt like myself. I woke up yesterday and it just hit me like a train.\u201d<\/p>\n

Neto said he had headaches when he woke up on Monday, and they returned after he did his prep for the game that night.<\/p>\n

Neto at first said he had whiplash from the collision. Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Ian Seymour fell into Neto, who was sliding into home. Neto\u2019s head jerked back at the impact, so he left the game.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, he said headaches and whiplash were both issues, although he had been cleared of a concussion.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday I woke up feeling way better than I did yesterday,\u201d Neto said. \u201cI just got to check a few boxes before I can go out there and play again. For right now, everything feels good. I\u2019ve hit in the cage and did some ground balls and it feels fine.\u201d<\/p>\n

ALDEGHERI UP, FERMIN DOWN<\/h4>\n

The Angels sent down right-hander Jos\u00e9 Fermin and called up left-hander Sam Aldegheri. The Angels needed Aldegheri to give them multi-inning coverage for the bullpen.<\/p>\n

Fermin went down after a nightmare outing on Monday night. He gave up five runs, including a three-run homer, to blow a three-run lead.<\/p>\n

Fermin had not allowed a run in his previous nine games, however there were cracks starting to show when he was unable to finish his inning on Saturday against the Rays.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was on a roll, he was pitching well, really doing well against righties,\u201d Manager Kurt Suzuki said. \u201c(He needs) to go down and and focus on a little bit more execution against left-handed batters and things like that.\u201d<\/p>\n

NOTES<\/h4>\n

Right-hander Sam Bachman has been dealing with a \u201csickness going around,\u201d Suzuki said. That\u2019s why Bachman wasn\u2019t available on Friday against the Rays, when Ryan Zeferjahn gave up the lead in the seventh, or Monday night, when Fermin gave it up in the eighth. \u201cWhen you\u2019re dehydrated and sick, it\u2019s not the ideal situation,\u201d Suzuki said. \u201cYou have to think about the player\u2019s health.\u201d \u2026<\/p>\n

Right-handed reliever Ben Joyce is throwing at a distance of 90 feet, Suzuki said. Joyce has not been on a mound since he was pulled off his rehab assignment in early May. Joyce is rehabbing from shoulder surgery. \u2026<\/p>\n

Outfielder Matthew Lugo was claimed on waiver by the Kansas City Royals. The Angels designated Lugo for assignment last week. \u2026<\/p>\n

The Angels released left-hander Joey Lucchesi, who had been pitching at Triple-A. \u2026<\/p>\n

Former Angels\u2019 first-round draft pick Jordyn Adams, who last played in the majors with the Baltimore Orioles last season, has retired from baseball to play football at SMU. Adams, 26, was one of the top high school wide receivers in the country when the Angels signed him in 2018.<\/p>\n
