(Photo by Howard Freshman, Contributing Photographer)\n<\/div><span>Expand<\/span><\/div><\/div>\n<p>LONG BEACH \u2014 Felix Rosenqvist is taking the \u2018Longview\u2019 to winning poles in the IndyCar NTT Series.<\/p><p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/siliconvalleymovingpost.com\/?p=1388\">2026 Grand Prix of Long Beach: Acura, Lexus break through in IMSA<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Driving the No. 60 SiriusXM Acura with a special \u2018Green Day\u2019 livery for the weekend, Rosenqvist earned the pole on Saturday for the 51st annual Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis isn\u2019t a \u2018Boulevard of Broken Dreams,\u201d Rosenqvist said. \u201cWe\u2019re rocking the Green Day Acura this weekend, so this was exactly what we\u2019re looking for.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rosenqvist\u2019s Firestone Fast Six lap time \u2013 1 minute, 7.463 seconds \u2013 was just four-hundredths of a second quicker than Pato O\u2019Ward, and earns the Meyer Shank Racing team its second pole of the weekend and Rosenqvist\u2019s second in three races at Long Beach.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI love to shootout format, and when they announced it, I really wanted to be a part of that because I think it\u2019s such a cool thing,\u201d Rosenqvist said. \u201cHuge day for Acura and an amazing day for Meyer Shank Racing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The pole winner ahead of the 2024 race in Long Beach, Rosenqvist\u2019s best finish in five career starts was fourth last year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is definitely one of them where you can settle in the lead, it\u2019s going to be huge,\u201d Rosenqvist said. \u201cYou can still pass here, and it\u2019s still open with strategies. Like, we\u2019re still not sure about the tires.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>O\u2019Ward solidified his best starting position in Long Beach with a 1:07.507 lap.<\/p> <div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve been happy with the car that I\u2019ve been given,\u201d said O\u2019Ward, who had started no better than \u2026 in \u2026 previous appearances in Southern California. \u201cIt feels good to be a bit more in attack mode rather than defense, and it\u2019s good to be on the front row with my pal, \u2018Fro\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Alex Palou, who has already won twice this season, was running the fastest lap of the weekend until locking up his right front brake coming around Turn 11 and qualified third in 1:07.650.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s painful,\u201d Palou said. \u201cI just made a small mistake in the last corner, and it\u2019s game over.\u201d<\/p><p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/siliconvalleymovingpost.com\/?p=1387\">2026 Grand Prix of Long Beach: Rosenqvist posts best finish, Brabham wins Stadium Super Trucks race<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Defending race champion Kyle Kirkwood was unable to get his tires to stick, slipping and sliding all over the 1.986-mile course and qualifying fourth in 1:07.619.<\/p> <div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cMaybe it\u2019s because I was more aggressive in the steering,\u201d the two-time Long Beach winner said. \u201cWe have a good car, so all things forward.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kirkwood was the fastest during practice on Saturday morning, but could not match the same pace in the Fast Six.<\/p>\n<p>David Malukas was the fastest heading into the Fastest Six and chose to attempt to qualify first, but bounced off the wall out of Turn 8 and will start fifth in 1:07.650.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe struggled to get the (tire) temps up, and that\u2019s why we wanted to go right away,\u201d Malukas said. \u201cWe did everything we could, but it just wasn\u2019t ready.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Scott Dixon snuck inside the Fastest Six group past Will Power, who was the fastest during practice on Friday.
