{"id":18825,"date":"2026-06-30T12:31:57","date_gmt":"2026-06-30T12:31:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/siliconvalleymovingpost.com\/?p=18825"},"modified":"2026-06-30T12:31:57","modified_gmt":"2026-06-30T12:31:57","slug":"trump-nominates-acting-labor-secretary-keith-sonderling-to-be-agencys-permanent-chief","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/siliconvalleymovingpost.com\/?p=18825","title":{"rendered":"Trump nominates acting Labor Secretary Keith Sonderling to be agency\u2019s permanent chief"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>WASHINGTON (AP) \u2014 President Donald Trump said Monday he will nominate Keith Sonderling to be the secretary of labor, elevating him from the agency\u2019s acting director two months after Lori Chavez-DeRemer resigned amid abuse-of-power allegations.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/siliconvalleymovingpost.com\/?p=18823\">US envoys arrive in Qatar for meetings on Iran amid tensions following weekend attacks<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Sonderling, a lawyer who has held a variety of acting positions and leadership roles across Trump\u2019s government, was previously the deputy labor secretary and a Republican member of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThroughout his career, Keith has proven his dedication to delivering strong results for the Hardworking People of our Country, and I know he will do an incredible job in his new role,\u201d Trump wrote in a Truth Social post announcing Sonderling\u2019s nomination.<\/p>\n<p>Sonderling\u2019s nomination is subject to Senate confirmation.<\/p>\n<p>During Trump\u2019s second term, in addition to his Labor Department post, Sonderling has been the acting director of U.S. Office of Government Ethics and the Institute of Museum and Library Services, one of several agencies Trump targeted for closure in an executive order last year.<\/p>\n<p>At the library agency, Sonderling placed many agency staff members on administrative leave, sent termination notices to most of them, began canceling grants and contracts and fired all members of the National Museum and Library Services Board.
