Kroger has thousands of stores operating under various brands, including Ralphs, King Soopers, Smith\u2019s and Fred Meyer.<\/p>\n<p>The transaction includes $1.25 billion in cash and the assumption of approximately $400 million in outstanding liabilities, the companies said Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGiant Eagle is a well-run, high-quality regional grocer with a strong reputation for fresh products, pharmacy, private label and customer loyalty,\u201d Kroger CEO Greg Foran said in a statement. \u201cWe evaluated the opportunity carefully, and the strategic fit is clear.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/siliconvalleymovingpost.com\/?p=19253\">OC beach cities report dogs on beaches are among the highest cause for citations<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Foran, a former Walmart executive, was named Kroger\u2019s CEO in February.
