So it was time to get some white ones.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/siliconvalleymovingpost.com\/?p=4392\">Irvine City Council wants plans from staff on handling a budget gap before it grows<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI told our coaches, \u2018Draw it up and let\u2019s see what ya got,\u2019 \u201d Cypress head coach John Weber said.<\/p>\n<p>The result: white home uniforms that read \u201cDairy City\u201d across the chest and blue caps bearing interlocked initials \u201cDC\u201d on them.<\/p>\n<p>The city of Cypress is celebrating the 70th anniversary of its incorporation. It was not called \u201cCypress\u201d in 1956. Within its borders were dairies that had around 100,000 cows so the town was called \u201cDairy City.\u201d Nearby La Palma was \u201cDairyland\u201d for several years, too.<\/p>\n<p>The idea to put \u201cDairy City\u201d on the uniforms came from Cypress athletic director Mark Slevcove, a Cypress alum whose son Drew is a pitcher for the Centurions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMe being a Garden Grove guy, I didn\u2019t know about all of this,\u201d Weber said. \u201cCoach (John) Short designed the hat. Morse signed with Tennessee. \u2026<\/p>\n<p>Foothill junior Aidan Gogley had 11 RBIs in 10 games through Tuesday. \u2026<\/p>\n<div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Huntington Beach pitcher Jared Grindlinger, who reclassified as a senior for this school year, has 17 strikeouts in 17 innings with five walks and a 0.82 ERA. Huntington Beach pitcher Tanner Brown has a 1.10 ERA with 14 strikeouts and four walks in 17\u2154 innings. \u2026<\/p>\n<p>Santa Margarita freshman Cooper Holland drove in four runs in the Eagles\u2019 15-3 win over Brother Rice of Chicago on Wednesday in the Bishop Gorman Invitational tournament in Las Vegas. \u2026<\/p>\n<p>Among the other big hitters for Santa Margarita on Wednesday was sophomore Warren Wulfemeyer who homered and drove in three runs. Wulfemeyer\u2019s grandfather Mark Wulfemeyer at one time held the CIF Southern Section record for career points with 2,608 for Troy in the early 1970s. \u2026<\/p>\n<p>The baseball schedule for Friday includes these games: El Dorado at Villa Park in the Crestview League; Newport Harbor at Corona del Mar in the Sunset League; and Mater Dei at Cypress in a nonleague game. \u2026<\/p>\n<p>The sit-out period ends March 27 for transfers who did not make a residence change that would have made them immediately eligible at their new school. \u2026<\/p>\n<p>The National Classic will run March 30 through April 2 with games at El Dorado, Villa Park and Yorba Linda high schools.
