Orange County\u2019s track and field stars are sure to shine Saturday at the CIF Southern Section Championships at Moorpark High.<\/p>\n

The CIF-SS meet, which has four divisions, begins the running events with the girls 4\u00d7100 relay at noon followed minutes later by the boys 4\u00d7100 relay. Orange County should be well-represented in both.<\/p>\n

The final running event is the boys 4\u00d7400 relay, scheduled for a 6:20 p.m. start although track and field events often run late. That relay race also could have some impressive results for Orange County competitors.<\/p>\n

Field events begin with boys and girls pole vault and the boys high jump at 9:30 a.m.<\/p>\n

Among the Orange County athletes and teams likely to be winners in their CIF-SS divisions:<\/p>\n

BOYS<\/strong><\/p>\n

Division 1<\/strong><\/p>\n

800:<\/strong> Mattheus Dos Santos, San Clemente, Jr. He ran his season best (1 minute, 52.42 seconds) last week for the division\u2019s best time in the prelims.<\/p>\n

\n<\/div>\n

3,200:<\/strong> Aidan Antonio, Woodbridge, Jr. Antonio, who was the Orange County cross country athlete of the year in the fall, will be in the mix for this race.<\/p>\n

Long jump:<\/strong> Dane Malloy, Dana Hills, Sr. His season best of 23 feet, 2.5 inches is No. 5 in California.<\/p>\n

Triple jump:<\/strong> Malloy. A double for Dane?<\/p>\n

Division 2<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n<\/div>\n

4\u00d7100 relay:<\/strong> Santa Margarita. Might be the top challenger to Newbury Park.<\/p>\n

Division 3<\/strong><\/p>\n

100:<\/strong> Benjamin Hunter, Servite, Jr.: Leads California with his time of 10.27 seconds.<\/p>\n

200:<\/strong> Jace Wells, Servite, So. Also in this race will be Servite\u2019s Jorden Wells, Jace\u2019s twin, and Harris.<\/p>\n

400:<\/strong> Jaelen Hunter, Servite, So. His 46.55 is second-best in California this season. His top competition might be his teammate, Wells.<\/p>\n

800:<\/strong> Alden Morales, JSerra, Sr. This could be one of the day\u2019s better races, with Morales\u2019 teammate Jack Burnett and Oaks Christian\u2019s Vin Krueger also in the hunt.<\/p>\n

4\u00d7100 relay:<\/strong> Servite. It\u2019s just a matter of not dropping a baton for the group that ran a state-record 39.70 seconds at Arcadia.<\/p>\n

4\u00d7400 relay:<\/strong> Servite. The Friars, a leading contender for a CIF-SS team championship, ran this in 3 minutes, 16.60 seconds in the prelims and has a California-leading time (3:10.33) in the books this season.<\/p>\n

4\u00d7800 relay:<\/strong> JSerra. The Lions established the state-leading time of 7:38.13 at Arcadia.<\/p>\n

Pole vault:<\/strong> Noah Richardson, Crean Lutheran, Jr. He is the county leader with a height of 15 feet, 6 inches.<\/p>\n

Division 4<\/strong><\/p>\n

4\u00d7400 relay:<\/strong> St. Margaret\u2019s. The Tartans\u2019 relay had the second-fastest time at last week\u2019s prelims (3:26.66).<\/p>\n

GIRLS<\/strong><\/p>\n

Division 1<\/strong><\/p>\n

3,200:<\/strong> Millie Bayles, Trabuco Hills, Sr. Something close to her 10:36.68 at the Arcadia Invitational could get her on the top of the medals podium.<\/p>\n

4\u00d7400 relay:<\/strong> Portola and Trabuco Hills. But Long Beach Poly has a fine group, too.<\/p>\n

Triple jump:<\/strong> Stavroula Liarakos, Los Alamitos, So. The county leader with a top mark of 38 feet, 9 inches.<\/p>\n

Shot put:<\/strong> Jaslene Massey, Aliso Niguel, Sr. Her top mark this season is 53 feet, 2 inches, which is No. 1 in California. She might be able to win Saturday throwing it underhand.<\/p>\n

Discus:<\/strong> Massey. Her best throw this season (188-7) is the No. 2 mark in the nation.<\/p>\n

Division 2<\/strong><\/p>\n

100:<\/strong> Eden Murray, Mater Dei, Sr.: She has the county-leading time of 11.68 seconds.<\/p>\n

200:<\/strong> Murray. Ran her personal-record (24.09 seconds) in last week\u2019s prelims.<\/p>\n

1,600:<\/strong> Summer Wilson, Irvine, Sr. She did not run early in the season, but now seems to be in excellent form. With her long strides, she cruised to a win in the Pacific Coast League championships three weeks ago with a time of 4:45.40.<\/p>\n

4\u00d7800 relay:<\/strong> Mater Dei. The foursome\u2019s time in the prelims (9:29.13) was the relay team\u2019s best of the season.<\/p>\n

300 hurdles:<\/strong> Natalie McCarty, Newport Harbor, Sr. Her 42.46 seconds at the Arcadia Invitational is the No. 8 time in California this season. She could be busy Saturday, having qualified also in the 100 hurdles and high jump.<\/p>\n

Discus:<\/strong> Amy Campbell, Capistrano Valley, Fr. Anything close to her season-best (144 feet, 11 inches) will win it.<\/p>\n

Division 3<\/strong><\/p>\n

800:<\/strong> Reese Holley, JSerra, Jr. Holley has the No. 4 time (2:8.10) in California this season.<\/p>\n

1,600:<\/strong> Holley. Floated to a winning time (4:55.69) at last week\u2019s prelims.<\/p>\n

3,200:<\/strong> Monserrat Santillan Silva, Century, Sr. Jogged to a finish of 11 minutes, .89 seconds in the prelims. She had a season-best of 10:27.36 under the bright lights of Arcadia.<\/p>\n

4\u00d7400 relay:<\/strong> JSerra. The Lions finished first at last week\u2019s prelims.<\/p>\n

4\u00d7800 relay:<\/strong> JSerra. The state leader with a time of 8:50.32.<\/p>\n

Pole vault:<\/strong> Helena Reuter, JSerra, Sr. She has Division 3\u2019s best mark this season at 12 feet, 4 inches.<\/p>\n

Discus:<\/strong> Kai Beary, JSerra, Sr.: Getting near her season-best mark (131-11) could be enough.<\/p>\n

Division 4<\/strong><\/p>\n

100:<\/strong> Maliyah Collins, Rosary, So. She is No. 7 in California at 11.70 seconds. Sophomore teammate Tra\u2019via Flournoy will also be in the mix.<\/p>\n

200:<\/strong> Maliyah Collins, Rosary, So. The state leader with a time of 23.35 seconds, which she ran at the Mt. SAC Relays last month.<\/p>\n

400:<\/strong> Justine Wilson, Rosary, Sr. Wilson is No. 7 in California this season with a time of 54.43 seconds.<\/p>\n

4\u00d7100 relay:<\/strong> Rosary. The Royals, who should be a top contender the CIF-SS team championship, set the county record this season with a time off 44.23 seconds. That is the No. 2 time in California history.<\/p>\n

4\u00d7400 relay:<\/strong> Rosary. The Royals ran this event in 3:45.30 at Arcadia for the second-best time in the state this season.<\/p>\n

Long jump:<\/strong> Jada Faison, Rosary, Sr. Her mark of 18-4.5 was the best at last week\u2019s prelims.<\/p>\n

The stadium gates at Moorpark High School open at 8:30 a.m.\u00a0Tickets that are exclusively available at GoFan.co. The price, before convenience fees are added: $14 for adults $7 for students and $7 for children of ages 5-13.<\/p>\n

Parking at Moorpark High is $10 (cash only). Parking fees go toward Moorpark High athletics. (Tax write-off? Don\u2019t ask me.)\u00a0The two entrances to the stadium are at the facility\u2019s west side. Parking lots C and D are closest to the entrances, with lots E and F also reasonably nearby.<\/p>\n

Following the CIF-SS finals is the CIF-SS Masters Meet, from which is where athletes try to qualify for the CIF State Championships. The CIF-SS Masters Meet is at Moorpark High on March 23. The CIF State meet is May 29 and 30 at Buchanan High in Clovis.<\/p>\n
