Dave\u2019s Dolphin &amp; Whale Watching Safari was one of several hundred sightings in recent months of the sleek sea creature that can reach 85 feet in length.<\/p>\n<p><span><iframe allowfullscreen=\"true\" class=\"youtube-player\" height=\"360\" loading=\"lazy\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Spg4cEqOlJ8?version=3&amp;rel=1&amp;showsearch=0&amp;showinfo=1&amp;iv_load_policy=1&amp;fs=1&amp;hl=en-US&amp;autohide=2&amp;wmode=transparent\" style=\"border:0;\" width=\"640\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The charter company also reported more than 400 fin whale encounters so far this year \u2014 more than usual, and a hopeful sign for the remainder of their typical season, which has just started.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s \u201cunprecedented\u201d to have this many fin whale sightings by early May, said Gisele Anderson, co-president of Capt. Dave\u2019s Dolphin and Whale Watching Safari, in a press release.<\/p>\n<p>Fin whales are the fastest baleen whale in the world, an endangered species that can weigh between 40 and 80 tons.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo having so many here is such a treat,\u201d she said. \u201cNot sure how long they\u2019ll stay, but for now, they\u2019re here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fin whales have been dubbed \u201cgreyhounds of the sea\u201d because of their speed.
