Weinstein appeared expressionless as court officers ushered him out in his wheelchair.<\/p>\n<p>A majority-male Manhattan jury had been weighing whether Weinstein raped\u00a0Jessica Mann, a hairstylist and actor. Weinstein\u2019s lawyers argued that the encounter was consensual. It happened in 2013 during a\u00a0fraught relationship\u00a0between the then-married Weinstein and the decades-younger Mann.<\/p>\n<p>The signs of stalemate emerged Friday a few hours into the third day of deliberations. Jurors sent a note saying they \u201chave concluded that they cannot reach\u201d a unanimous verdict. Judge Curtis Farber instructed the group to continue deliberating. That\u2019s generally what New York judges do at least the first time a jury says it\u2019s stuck.<\/p>\n<p>A hearing was set for June 24 to learn whether prosecutors will choose to go to a fourth trial.<\/p>\n<p>An appeals court\u00a0overturned\u00a0his\u00a02020 New York conviction\u00a0on charges that involved Mann and another accuser. At a retrial last year, jury deliberations broke down amid infighting on Mann\u2019s portion of the case, leading to\u00a0this current retrial. Weinstein is charged with one count of rape in the third degree.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/siliconvalleymovingpost.com\/?p=6696\">Woman shot, killed in Tustin; police looking for man, dark-colored car<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Mann, 40,\u00a0has testified\u00a0that she willingly had some sexual interludes with the then-married producer, but that he subjected her to unwanted sex that day after she repeatedly said no.<\/p>\n<div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Weinstein\u2019s lawyers have emphasized that Mann subsequently continued seeing Weinstein after the encounter\u00a0and expressing warmth\u00a0toward him. Mann has said she was mired in complicated feelings about him, herself and what had happened.<\/p>\n<p>Her viewpoint changed in 2017, when a\u00a0series of allegations\u00a0against the Oscar-winning Weinstein propelled #MeToo. Some of those accusations generated criminal convictions against Weinstein in New York and\u00a0California.<\/p>\n<p>Weinstein, 74,\u00a0has said\u00a0he \u201cacted wrongly\u201d but never assaulted anyone.<\/p>\n<p>The current jury heard nearly three weeks of testimony,\u00a0five days\u00a0of it from Mann. Weinstein did not testify.<\/p>\n<div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The Associated Press generally does not identify people who say they have been sexually assaulted.
