Garden Grove Unified School District officials said in their latest update that several schools remain under evacuation orders and planning for distance learning is underway.<\/p>\n

A chunk of the district falls within the evacuation area established in response to a malfunctioning tank containing a flammable, volatile chemical used in plastics and manufacturing at an aerospace plant in West Garden Grove.<\/p>\n

District officials are preparing to pivot to distance learning for Tuesday and Wednesday if evacuations remain in place for those campuses and said in their daily update that families would receive details directly from their school principal or classroom teacher.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe understand if conditions prevent students from joining and students will be held harmless in respect to attendance and grades during this challenging time,\u201d district officials said in their update. \u201cWe understand how stressful and unsettling this situation is for families, and we want to reassure you that the safety of our students, staff, and community remains our highest priority. Due to the unpredictable nature of this emergency, these plans are fluid and we will update you of any changes.\u201d<\/p>\n

High school graduations scheduled to begin Tuesday are currently expected to go on as planned, officials said in their update.<\/p>\n

District officials have been in meetings with emergency responders and law enforcement getting updates, the latest announcement on the district website said.<\/p>\n

One school that has been cleared to be removed from the list of campuses under evacuation orders is Skylark Preschool and it will reopen on Tuesday, officials said.<\/p>\n

Schools that remain under evacuation orders, along with the district\u2019s Maintenance and Operations Center at Chapman-Hettinga and the Lampson Bus Yard, are:<\/p>\n

\u2022 Barker Elementary<\/p>\n

\u2022 Bryant Elementary<\/p>\n

\u2022 Bell Intermediate<\/p>\n

\n<\/div>\n

\u2022 Carver Early Childhood Education Center<\/p>\n

\u2022 Enders Elementary<\/p>\n

\u2022 Garden Park Elementary<\/p>\n

\u2022 Lawrence Elementary<\/p>\n

\u2022 Pacifica High School<\/p>\n

\u2022 Patton Elementary<\/p>\n

\u2022 Rancho Alamitos High School<\/p>\n

\u2022 Wakeham Elementary<\/p>\n

\u201cAt this time, high school graduations will continue as planned,\u201d the district\u2019s update said. \u201cSchool principals will communicate directly with families regarding adjustments to end-of-year activities or commencements scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday.\u201d<\/p>\n

Scheduled to have commencement ceremonies at 2 p.m. on Tuesday are Bolsa Grande High at the campus stadium and Garden Grove High at its Michael A. Monsoor Memorial Stadium. Both stadiums are outside the evacuation area.<\/p>\n

At 6 p.m. on Tuesday, ceremonies are planned for La Quinta High at the Bolsa Grande stadium and Santiago High at Monsoor Stadium.<\/p>\n

More graduations are planned for Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Families who are struggling with food insecurity can pick up grab-and-go meals from noon to 1 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday at Hare High School.<\/p>\n
