On the menu, guests would have a choice of everything from buttery lobster rolls and lobster bisque, to Baja-style favorites like tacos, burritos and fish and chips, the proposal said.<\/p>\n<p>Acai bowls, fruit, breakfast burritos and sandwiches would be available in the early hours, as well as coffee and fruit bowls.<\/p>\n<p>For those with a sweet tooth, North Pole beignets covered in powdered \u201csnow\u201d and \u201cShark Bite\u201d shave ice are expected to be offered.<\/p> <div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The \u201cfarm-to-pier\u201d operation will prioritize local vendors to provide fresh ingredients and reduce carbon footprint, and produce sourced from nearby farms, according to a staff report.<\/p>\n<p>The city owns and operates the San Clemente Municipal Pier, and the end-of-pier concession has historically provided bait and tackle services along with food and beverage offerings, serving both the local fishing community and visitors.<\/p>\n<p>The previous Snack Shack operation vacated about a year ago.<\/p>\n<p>In 2020, the city hired consultant Food Facilities Worldwide to create a \u00a0\u201cfood and beverage strategic plan\u201d\u00a0\u00a0and find out what the industry standards were for concession operators and how they could improve operations.<\/p> <div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The North Beach building on the sand, once a concession building, remains vacant.<\/p><p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/siliconvalleymovingpost.com\/?p=9379\">Venue gets mixed reviews as National Spelling Bee returns to DC ahead of White House UFC event<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The proposal for the pier also outlined community-oriented elements such as youth fishing clinics, environmental stewardship initiatives, and partnerships that support local organizations and pier preservation.<\/p>\n<p>One of the big goals, Lauren Rivard said, is to be eco-conscious, especially considering the location right over the ocean.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSan Clemente Blue\u201d signage will educate guests on the local marine ecosystem and how to keep the \u201cSpanish Village by the Sea\u201d waste-free.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe believe every visitor should leave the pier with a deeper respect for our coastline,\u201d the proposal said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe end-of-pier concession is a highly visible and iconic public asset, requiring an operator capable of balancing operational success with the character and public use of the San Clemente Pier,\u201d city staffers said in their report to the council. \u201cIt was a priority to identify a proposer with demonstrated experience, strong operational capacity, and an understanding of the pier\u2019s significance to both the local fishing community and visiting public.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>One of the exciting community offerings Rivard envisions is the \u201cHooked on Education\u201d clinics, quarterly fishing clinics led by local experts to teach kids and families sustainable \u201ccatch and release\u201d techniques and current local regulations.<\/p>\n<p>They will also post a \u201cfirst catch\u201d bragging board that will feature local youth who hook their first pier catch and digitally compile a community archive.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSunset Acoustic\u201d sessions with local musicians; a \u201cMidnight Launch\u201d coffee service to help fuel lobster divers on opening night for the season; and a \u201cwarmth station\u201d during the Christmas Pier Lighting events, are all amenities envisioned.<\/p>\n<p>For the anglers, the concession will offer hooks, weights and rigs, and bait.<\/p>\n<p>Signature menu items like the \u201cShark Bite\u201d shave ice will give back a fixed percentage of every sale for pier preservation, the proposal offered.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe don\u2019t just understand the San Clemente lifestyle, we live it every day,\u201d the couple said in their proposal. \u201cWe\u2019ve replaced the tourist trap feel with a philosophy that is eco-conscious, community-driven, and undeniably fun.\u201d<\/p><p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/siliconvalleymovingpost.com\/?p=9373\">70 people suing Garden Grove chemical tank owner over crisis as of Tuesday<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A sneak peek at the menu shows everything from buttery lobster rolls and chowder to Baja-style tacos to beignets and \u201cShark Bite\u201d shave ice.
