Living in Southern California, we all know people who are obsessed with all things Disney. Maybe you are one of them. And, no wonder. The Walt Disney Co. spends every waking minute thinking up new ways to keep you hooked, from new rides to the latest spirit jerseys.

If you’re a happy Disney freak, you probably hear things from your misguided friends, family and co-workers that can dampen your happy place.  Here’s how to respond.

Q: You’re going to Disney again? Isn’t this like your thousandth trip?

A: Yes. Yes, it is. What’s your point?

Q: Aren’t you too old to be obsessed with Disney? It’s just for kids.

A: No, no, no. Walt Disney imagined it as a place for adults and kids. There are plenty of adults there all the time.

Q: You’re going to Paris and wasting an entire day of your vacation at Disneyland Paris? Why? We have Disney here.

A: It’s not the same. At Disneyland Paris, the castle has a dragon cave. You can buy crepes on Main Street. There’s a World of Frozen. And the tickets are cheaper.

Q: Can you talk about anything besides Disney?

A: Yes, but I don’t want to.

Q: You drove all the way to Disneyland and stood in a long line just to buy a popcorn bucket? And then never put popcorn in it? Don’t you think that’s crazy?

A: Well, maybe, but everyone has hobbies. You think it’s fun to sit staring at sports on TV for hours every weekend. This is my fun.

Q: Seriously. We have so many theme parks here. What’s the difference?

A: You’re making my head explode. Disney is nothing like the other parks. It’s my happy place. Stop pestering me.

Q: Why don’t you go somewhere different?

A: You’re right! I should! I could check out the Disney parks in Tokyo, Shanghai or Paris.

Q: Is it worth seeing the Harry Potter area at Disneyland?

A: No, because it’s at Universal Studios.

Q: I bet the Star Trek land is fun.

A: You mean the imaginary one? Because the one at Disneyland is Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. No Star Trek. No Captain Kirk. Live long and prosper.

Q: My favorite Disney movie is “The Iron Giant.”

A: It’s not a Disney movie! Not every animated film was made by Disney! That was made by Warner Bros.
