SAN FRANCISCO — Rookie Cameron Carr scored 26 points, Anton Watson scored the game-winning basket, and the Lakers outlasted the Miami Heat, 93-91, in sudden-death overtime on Sunday afternoon in a California Classic Summer League game at the Chase Center.

The Lakers trailed by double digits for most of the game, but they prevailed on the first possession of sudden death following 40 minutes of regulation and two more minutes of extra time.

Carr, a first-round draft pick out of Baylor last month, paced the Lakers with 26 points and eight rebounds while shooting 7 for 16 from the field, 4 for 9 from 3-point range and 4 for 5 from the free-throw line in nearly 30 minutes.

Watson added 12 points and 10 rebounds while shooting 4 for 12 overall (1 for 5 from 3-point range) in 26 minutes. Second-year wing Adou Thiero had 13 points (3-for-9 shooting), three rebounds, two assists and three steals in 27 minutes, while Chris Mañon contributed 12 points (4-for-5 shooting), three rebounds and three assists off the bench.

The Lakers trailed 74-64 heading into the fourth quarter before staging a comeback. They outscored the Heat 23-13 in the final 10 minutes of regulation, tying the score on a Mañon layup in the final minute.

The Lakers knotted the score again in overtime on an Thiero layup with 28 seconds left.

When the sudden-death portion started, the Lakers controlled the first possession. Carr missed a 13-foot jumper, but Watson grabbed the offensive board and scored to secure the victory.

Ryan Conwell and Trevor Keels each scored 16 points to lead Miami, while Tre Donaldson and Tre White each added 11 points off the bench. Vladislav Goldin contributed six points, six rebounds and four blocked shots, and Conwell grabbed seven rebounds.

The Lakers play their final California Classic game when they face the San Antonio Spurs on Monday at 4:30 p.m. at the Chase Center. They will then head to Las Vegas for the league-wide summer league event, with their first game scheduled for Friday night against Oklahoma City.
