ARLINGTON, Texas — Mike Trout is steaming toward a return to the Angels’ lineup, but he wasn’t quite there yet on Tuesday.

After an off day on Monday, Trout went through a full workout on Tuesday, including running the bases, batting practice and outfield drills.

“He’s feeling a lot better today,” Angels manager Kurt Suzuki said before Tuesday’s game. “I think the good thing is every day he’s feeling better and better. Definitely looking good.”

Suzuki said Trout, who has been dealing with a hamstring injury, increased his intensity from previous workouts.

“We’ll see how he recovers tomorrow and see where it goes,” Suzuki said.

Suzuki said there is no need for Trout to face any live pitching, not even from someone throwing some sort of simulated game in Texas.

“With a guy like Mike, who’s been around a long time and we know what he can do when he’s healthy, when he feels he’s ready, we’re going to get him going,” he said.

Trout hurt his hamstring on June 17. If he comes back during this series in Texas, he will have missed three weeks.

Trout was elected to start the All-Star Game for the 11th time in his career. He said he’s excited to play in an All-Star Game in Philadelphia, near his hometown in New Jersey. He hasn’t played in an All-Star Game since 2019 because injuries knocked him out of the game in 2021, 2022 and 2023.

Obviously, Trout would not play in the All-Star Game if he’s not healthy enough to play for the Angels first.

UPON FURTHER REVIEW

Right fielder Jo Adell had already been recognized by the Hall of Fame for setting the major league record with three home run robberies in one game, and he thought he also had a piece of the single-season record by recording a fifth on Saturday night.

Sports Info Solutions, the outlet that tracks such things, reviewed Adell’s catch on Saturday night against the Boston Red Sox and one from May 12 against the Cleveland Guardians and ruled that neither ball was going over the fence.

So he’s still at three.

“They’re close,” Adell said of the two overturned robberies. “I’m jumping high enough to get them so nobody knows unless you let them drop. They’re close enough.”

Sports Info Solutions has been tracking home run robberies since 2004. No one had three in a game until Adell’s remarkable performance on April 4.

Carlos Gomez, Lorenzo Cain and Josh Reddick are the only players to have five in a season, according to Sports Info Solutions.

NOTES

Right-hander Grayson Rodriguez (back) is set to throw a bullpen session on Wednesday in Texas. That will likely be the final hurdle to clear him to return to the Angels’ rotation. …

Catcher Travis d’Arnaud (plantar fasciitis) has started doing some running, which is the final step before he’ll be able to return. D’Arnaud would need to play in some minor league games before he could be activated.
