On March 13, officers responded to the rental property on the west side of the Balboa Peninsula just before 6 a.m., where they learned that two masked people with handguns got into the home and demanded money and drugs.

They assaulted and injured multiple people and stole cellphones, jewelry, car keys and other personal property, Newport Beach authorities said.

Police later identified and arrested the three people on suspicion of conspiracy and robbery. Two of the three are also suspected of assault with a deadly weapon, police said.

After serving multiple search warrants, police found stolen property, guns and additional evidence that remains under investigation.

Detectives believe one of the three arrested planned the robbery, while the other two carried it out.

It was not immediately known if the suspects and victims knew one another. Nor were the value of the items or the extent of the injuries described by the police department on Thursday.
