Antonio Fresu finished as the leading jockey at Santa Anita’s Hollywood Meet for the second year in a row after Armando Ayuso failed to make up a two-win deficit on Monday.

Fresu had 33 wins, Ayuso 31 at the meet that began in April; neither recorded a victory on closing day. Juan Hernandez finished third with 27. Emisael Jaramillo led the Classic Meet portion of the Santa Anita season that opened in December.
Phil D’Amato led the trainers standings with 22 wins and has been on top at the Hollywood Meet all four years that Santa Anita has kept separate statistics for its two winter-spring meets.

Secured Freedom held off One More Freud to win the Affirmed Stakes for 3-year-olds, the first stakes victory in four tries for the colt ridden by Joel Rosario for trainer Tim Yakteen.
Los Alamitos opens a three-week thoroughbred meet Friday, with racing starting at 1 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. The Orange County track will continue to run quarter-horse races Saturday and Sunday nights.
