The duo had another great season this year, advancing to the CIF Southern Section finals. They lost to Addison Junk and Avery Junk, twin sisters who play for Redondo Union, in the championship round. The Champagne-Moynihan team also lost to the Junk sisters in the 2025 semifinals.
Champagne and Moynihan have the kind of extrasensory communication that longtime teams often have.
“Sara and I have known each other since we played for T Street as 12s,” said Champagne, referring to the Laguna Beach club’s age-group teams. “We’ve gotten to know each other better and better over all this time.”
Champagne and Moynihan are both headed to college and will continue playing beach volleyball — but not with each other.

Champagne will go to USC; Moynihan is off to UCLA.
“We always joke about that,” Champagne said. “UCLA’s always been her dream school. Mine’s always been USC.”
Champagne and Moynihan were the All-Orange County beach volleyball duo of the year last season, too.
This season they again were Trinity League co-MVPs.
COACH OF THE YEAR
Heidi Colapinto, JSerra
