Sarah Joyce shows off “Pinkie,” at the Cruisin’ Brea Father’s Day Car Show on Sunday, June 21, 2026. She bought the eye-catching 1957 Chevy Bel Air last year to use for errands. “She needs to be loved and she needs to be on the road,” Joyce said of the car. She bought it last year from a man whose wife designed it, changing its original chalk white finish to a sparkly pink. Before the car’s colorful overhaul was completed, the man’s wife died suddenly, before she ever drove it. It was hard for him to sell it. “I think the car just needed it’s spiritual partner,” Joyce said. “I’m keeping (his wife’s) spirit alive.” (Photo by Mindy Schauer, Orange County Register/SCNG)
