The Clippers have acquired power forward Johni Broome and a second-round draft pick from the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for cash considerations, a low-risk move announced on Tuesday that strengthens their thin frontcourt.

Broome, a second-round pick (35th overall) by the 76ers in the 2025 NBA Draft, is reported to have a two-year deal with the final year being a team option.
Broome fills the $2.3 million trade exception created when the Clippers traded Chris Paul to Toronto last season. The team now has eight second-round picks through 2033 and still has flexibility to further improve the roster.
A physical player and standout rebounder at Auburn, the 6-foot-9, 235-pound Broome played in just 11 regular-season games as a reserve with Philadelphia last season. He spent part of his rookie year with the 76ers’ G League team, where he averaged 22.9 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.4 blocked shots in 18 games, including a 50-point, 17-rebound game on Jan. 16. More than a month later, he sustained a lateral meniscus tear in his right knee, though he rehabbed and was available in the playoffs.

At this month’s NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, Broome played in three games and averaged 14.7 points and 9.0 rebounds.
The trade will allow the Sixers to stay under both the first and second aprons after signing forward LeBron James and guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, who is expected to sign a one-year, $3.9 million deal.
