Here are all the candidates qualified to run for seats in the 32 Orange County cities, including who is unopposed and destined for office.
Aliso Viejo
Incumbent Max Duncan faces a challenge from Steven Von der Porten for the District 2 seat while incumbent Garrett Dwyer faces a challenge from Marie Tsaasan in District 3. Incumbent Tiffany Ackley is unopposed in District 4.
Anaheim
Incumbent Ashleigh Aitken is facing challenges from Alfredo Rodriguez and Imran Sharief for the mayoral seat and Ella Renteria-Garcia is going up against Natalie Rubalcava for the District 3 seat. Incumbents Carlos Leon and Natalie Meeks are unchallenged for districts 2 and 6.
Brea
Incumbents Cecilia Hupp, Blaire Stewart and Steve Vargas face challenges from Andrew Herrera and Blake Perez for the three council seats on the ballot.
Buena Park
In District 1, Joyce Ahn is unopposed. In District 2, incumbent Carlos Franco will face challenger Yong Choi, and in District 5, Brandon Schooner and Sharena Walker are vying for the seat.
Costa Mesa
Mike Buley and Loren Gameros are vying the mayor post, while Cara Stewart and Daniel Morgan are seeking the open District 3 seat. In District 4, Angely Andrade Vallarta is running against Fisher Derderian. The District 5 race is between Kelly Brown and Steve Smith.
Cypress
In District 1, incumbent David Burke faces a challenge from Anne Mallari. In District 2, Helen Le challenges incumbent Bonnie Peat. In District 5, appointed incumbent Rachel Strong Carnahan and Randy Harper are vying for the seat
Dana Point
For the third cycle, candidates in Dana Point’s City Council election are running unopposed; incumbents John Gabbard and Matthew Pagano and newcomer Hydee Riggs are expected to be appointed to the dais on Monday, Aug. 17.
Fountain Valley
There are three seats open in Fountain Valley’s at-large election with incumbents Jim Cuneen and Kim Constantine and challengers Elizabeth Andrade, Dan Hay, John Nguyen, Mark Leonard, Katy Wright, Harrison Dibblee and Patricia Neal vying for a spot.
Fullerton
Incumbent Shana Charles faces a challenge from Daniel Kim for the District 3 seat. Three are vying for the District 5 seat: Oscar Valadez, Jozef Maldonado and David Fischbein.
Garden Grove
Incumbent Stephanie Klopfenstein is facing a challenge from Thu-Ha Nguyen for mayor. Long Tran Nguyen, Roger Fladers and William Zyla are vying to represent District 1. Incumbent Cindy Ngoc Tran faces challenges from Amanda Nguyen and Thomas Quoc Thai Nguyen for District 3, and incumbent Joe DoVinh faces challenges from Amanda Mohr, Hieu Nguyen and Phat Bui in District 4.
Huntington Beach
Eleven candidates are vying for three open seats on the City Council: incumbents Pat Burns, Andrew Gruel and Casey McKeon are looking to hold off challenges from Brian Burley, Ben Davis, Brenda Glim, Amory Hanson, Taryn Palumbo, Rosalind Price, Erin Spivey and Brian Thienes.
Irvine
Maksim V. Egorov is challenging incumbent Larry Agran for mayor. John Park, Sukhee Kang and incumbent Melinda Liu race for the District 1 seat. In District 5, it’s Anthony Kuo, Byron Salvatierra, Julie Glossbrenner, Steven Alves and incumbent Betty Martinez Franco on the ballot. Scotty Hong is challenging District 6 incumbent Kathleen Treseder.
La Habra
Miles Matias and Susan Pritchard are challenging incumbents James Gomez and James Medrano to the two seats on the ballot.
La Palma
Four candidates are vying for two open seats. Mayor Nitesh Patel and former La Palma police officer Andrew Kim are running in District 2. Small business owner Jonathan Dinwiddie and community volunteer Mary Paningsoro face off in District 4.
Laguna Beach
There are nine candidates running for the three open seats. Incumbents Sue Kempf, Mark Orgil and Alex Rounaghi are facing challenges from Nick Aronuff, Edward Bayuk, Joy Berry, Ashley Cintas, Karen Martin and Laura Parisi.
Laguna Hills
Three district seats on the ballot, with incumbent Joshua Sweeney unopposed in District 2. Harry Huggins and Laura Thies are running for District 1, while Tiffany Boccieri, Michael Caputo, Valerie Anne Geller and Scott Miller are running in District 4.
Laguna Niguel
The incumbents, Ray Gennawey in District 2 and Stephanie Oddo in District 4, are unopposed and the council is set to appoint them back to their seats on Tuesday, Aug. 18.

Laguna Woods
Incumbents Annie McCary and Carol Moore are facing a challenge from Sue Quam for the two seats open on the council.
Lake Forest
In District 2, incumbent Benjamin Yu faces challenges from George Azer, Brandon Council, Becky Keene and Brittany Thompson. In District 3, voters will decide between Tom Grable and Anil Patel and in District 4 between Shari Rhodes and Amy Stevens.
Los Alamitos
Incumbent Shelley Hasselbrink and Joe Hastie are running for the District 4 seat, while John Delavigne and incumbent Emily Hibard are running in District 5.
Mission Viejo
All five council district seats are on the ballot, but districts 2 and 4 are for two-year terms to get the city back into a staggered rotation. Incumbent Robert Ruesch is facing a challenge from Kristen Wilcox in District 1. In District 2, the candidates are Saga Conroy and Peter Molari. In District 3, incumbent Cynthia Vasquez is challenged by Brian Zahn. In District 4, Lauren Lacko and James Morrison are running. Steven Thornton is unopposed in Distrct 5.
Newport Beach
In District 1, incumbent Joe Stapleton is challenged by Tina Babajanian; in District 3, incumbent Erik Weigand is challenged by Walter Stahr and Tim Stoaks; in District 6, Andrew Gerken goes up against incumbent Lauren Kleiman; and in District 4, Robyn Grant is unopposed for the second time.
Orange
Arianna Barrios is challenging incumbent Dan Slater for mayor. Albert Ricci, Brandy Romero, Ernest Glasgow and Jonathan St. Clair compete for the District 1 seat. Incumbent Denis Bilodeau runs unopposed for District 4 and Brendon Moeller in District 6.
Placentia
In District 2, Santosh Sabnis, Julie Suchard and Matt Waugh vie for the seat. In District 4, incumbent Chad Wanke is challenged by James Burandt. For the at-large city clerk position, incumbent Robert “Bob” McKinnell is unopposed.
Rancho Santa Margarita
Incumbent Brad McGirr is unopposed in District 4. In District 1, Josh Bastian is running against Nicholas Reese. Rod Ganjifard and Natalie Guse are challenging incumbent Anne Figueroa in District 2.
San Clemente
For the first time in the city’s elections, voters will directly pick their mayor. Candidates are Victor Cabral, Shane Hirschman and Kathy Ward. In District 1, Steve Camp, Aaron Washington and Donna Vidrine are vying for the seat. In District 2, it’s a fight between incumbents Mark Enmeier and Steve Knoblock as the city transitions to district elections.
San Juan Capistrano
Only one race is contested: In District 2, Erin Beyer and Jeff Moore face off. Incumbents John Campbell and John Taylor are unopposed in districts 3 and 4.
Santa Ana
Incumbent Mayor Valerie Amezcua is facing challenges from Dan Shimell and Dwayne Shipp. In Ward 2, incumbent Benjamin Vasquez faces Selica Diaz. In Ward 4, incumbent Phil Bacerra faces Sandra de Anda. In Ward 6, Giovanni Chavez and Isuri Ramos vie for the seat.
Seal Beach
Scott Davis, Perla Mendoza, Matt Smith and Matthew Terry are running in District 1. The incumbents in districts 3 and 5, Lisa Landau and Nathan Steele, are unopposed.
Stanton
In District 1, incumbent Donald Torres is facing challenger Thomas Frazier. In District 3, the candidates are Debora Donathan, DeWayne Normand and Marlon-Ray Velasco. Mayor David John Shawver is unopposed.
Tustin
Leticia Clark challenges incumbent Austin Lumbard for mayor. In District 3, incumbent Ray Schnell faces Thomas Reed.
Villa Park
The City Council is set to vote on Aug. 19 to declare there will be no election, with only three candidates qualified for the election: incumbents Nicol Jones and Jordan Wu and former councilmember Chad Zimmerman, who is eligible for another term after a hiatus from serving.
Westminster
Kimberly Ho, Nguyen Hung, Carlos Manzo and Charles Shipp challenge incumbent Chi Charlie Nguyen for mayor. District 1 incumbent Amy Phan West faces Michael Genton and David Johnson for the seat. District 2 incumbent NamQuan Nguyen faces Kelly Daniels, Khai Dao and Loan Nguyen.
Yorba Linda
A field of five will vie for the two seats on the council, with incumbents Carlos Rodriguez and Janice Lim facing challengers Robert Pease II, Sean Phayakapong and Raymond Potter.
