Newly built waterfront estate in Big Bear Lake lists for $15 million

A new Big Bear Lake estate is on the market for $15 million.

Spanning 7,167 square feet, this contemporary residence has seven bedrooms and nine bathrooms. A central atrium and courtyard connect the home’s two wings, with a suspended fireplace framed by floor-to-ceiling glass and views of the lake.

The home also has more than 3,000 square feet of outdoor living space, according to Robb Report, which first reported the listing.

If it sells near the asking price, it would be the priciest home sale in the mountain town. A 7,762-square-foot Big Bear Lake home on a three-quarter-acre lot recently sold for $5.52 million, the current residential sales record, according to Redfin.

Records show actress Lindsey Gort and her husband, designer-builder Beau Laughlin, bought the vacant land through an LLC for $2.499 million in March 2022. They later developed the more than 1.5-acre parcel into the Waterfront Estate on Big Bear Lake, a walled and gated contemporary residence completed this year.

The development is the latest project by Laughlin’s Framework Design + Build, which brought in Phoenix-based architectural firm The Ranch Mine to design the exterior and collaborate on the interiors.

Built with sustainably sourced timber, natural stone and brick tile, the home blends into its natural setting, surrounded by mature aspens, native cedars and pines. With 100 feet of lake frontage, the buyer can select the boat dock configuration, according to the listing.

The kitchen is clad in European white oak and has Wolf and Sub-Zero appliances, two Ceppo Rosso marble islands and an EarthStone wood-fired pizza oven. Two stairways lead down to an entertainment level with a full wet bar and a great room with a floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace.

Each of the two primary suites has a fireplace. Bathroom finishes include Grey Beauty marble and Taj Mahal quartzite with Studio Ore fixtures. Both suites open onto private terraces.

The guest suites look out over the forest, courtyard and lake.

A cedar sauna with a Wi-Fi-enabled HUUM heater, a recreation room and a flexible home office round out the interior.

Patios, a covered pavilion and a central courtyard provide outdoor dining areas, while integrated audio, a gas fire pit and a cedar soaking tub add to the outdoor amenities.

The property includes two garages, one of which is climate-controlled and large enough for a boat, jet skis, an Airstream or other recreational vehicles.

Gort’s credits include the “Sex and the City” prequel “The Carrie Diaries,” the courthouse drama “All Rise” and “Dead Boy Detectives.” She will star in the upcoming “Sunset & Vine,” which she described in an Instagram post as an opportunity to sing, roller-skate on the Venice Boardwalk and perform stand-up comedy.

Laughlin launched Framework in 2018 after a career in the restaurant industry. He and Gort previously developed homes in Palm Springs and Lake Arrowhead.
