Some of the biggest questions of Orange County football’s offseason get answered on Friday night. Perhaps. Somewhat.

The questions about who will be the starting quarterback for several teams persisted over the summer and throughout 7-on-7 competition.

But with several of those teams kicking off their season Friday, Aug. 21, let’s see where the teams stand at quarterback entering 2026:

Corona del Mar: Juniors JD Annett and Luca DiNapoli will both see considerable action as the Sea Kings travel to Lakewood, Corona del Mar coach Kevin Hettig said.

JSerra: The Lions were still determining a starter as of late Thursday and will make a game-time decision before they play host to Sierra Canyon, JSerra coach Hardy Nickerson said.

At the Battle at the Beach passing tournament, the Lions featured senior Hayes Cloutier and sophomores Jonathan Urquhart and Jack Hilgenberg.

Los Alamitos: The Griffins will make a game-time decision between sophomores Zachariah Correa and junior Elijah McDaniel before they play at Inglewood, Los Alamitos coach Rory Schoonmaker said.

Juniors Luke Osborn and Seth Tetzlaff remain in the mix, the coach added.

Mater Dei: Monarchs coach Ray Lara said at the South County Classic that senior Cameron Pooley and junior Russell Sekona would both play this season. Freshman Paytyn Guess continues to impress as Mater Dei plays host to American Fork of Utah at Santa Ana Stadium.

Mission Viejo: Sophomore Brett Burnor will start as the Diablos play host to Chaparral, Diablos coach Chad Johnson said.

Newport Harbor: Senior Jordan Spigarelli will start for the second straight game as the Sailors (1-0) play host to Murrieta Mesa, Newport Harbor coach Matthew Burns said. Spigarelli completed 13 of 19 passes for 253 yards and four TDs in a 41-0 win against Nanakuli in Hawaii last week.

Orange Lutheran: Senior Reagan Toki will start and rotate with sophomore Ezrah Brown as the Lancers take on Miami Central of Florida at Orange Coast College, Orange Lutheran coach Ray Fenton said.

San Juan Hills: The Stallions started Eiler King in their 67-0 victory against Castle in Hawaii last week and also played Preston Getz, Stallions coach Robert Frith said. San Juan Hills, which has a bye this week, also has added La Costa Canyon transfer Parker Armstrong, Frith said.
